Change Linux Boot Loader / Logon Screen

just read in an ol LYU that its possible to change the lilo screen to animated ones . Is this also available for grub ???

this is for the boot loader . is there any other way to add a logon screen like the windows boot screen , instead of all the text msgs during loading .

Yes to change the logon screen and the entire boot procedure screen you have to enable the frame buffer and install bootsplash. check out the web site http://www.bootsplash.de
