better use PPPoE instead of bridge mode
go to 192.168.1.1 & enter user is & pass as "admin"
look for "pvc0" and change its mode to PPPoE from bridge.
enter your dataone user is & password.
go to system & click save & reboot
now when the router is switched on it will connect automatically

yeah , connecting through your NIC is much better n safer n a lot easier . follow the steps as Gary said , if u hv an airtel connection , then goto
Code:
192.168.1.1/main.html
to change advanced settings in ur beetel modem.

Smile Re: broadband connection in UBUNTU

there is something called commandline in Linux. In ubuntu,u can access it from Desktop's menu =Applications>Accessories>Terminal(or right click simply to get "Open Terminal".open it.
now in the "$" prompt type "lspci" and press enter.paste that output here.

Also run "ifconfig" command too in terminal and post it here.if u want to trouble shoot do post the o/p here. reinstalling Linux doesnt help either.
