voice recording problem.....

iam having problem while recording voice in my PC....
when i checked hardware installation it showing "it is not recognizing my voice "
what should i do...

Which application are you using to record program? Which distro? System specs?

start---All program---accessories---entertainment----voice recorder

mother board--->intel 946GZTS
intel 3.4 duel core processor, 2MB L2 cache
1GB RAM
SATA 160 GB HDD
LG DVD R+w
