How to play mp3 and video files in UBUNTU

Hi Guys
I've installed ubuntu linux. but there is no codecs for playing MP3 and Video Files. Could you please suggest me a good softwares for these codecs.....

For that you'll have to download and install XMMS, & VLC player from the internet and then you'll be able to play all kinds of files.
Get them through Apt Get

Aahhh XMMS that's seriously outdated. Rather use something like songbird, audacity, amarok quod libet and so many more. audacity should be able to give you XMMS look and feel.

Download easy ubuntu and download the codecs using it.

yeah, audacious is good, but i dont like default skin. winamp5 skin is good
