ubuntu 6.06 display problem!!!!

hey there guys.
i had installed dapper on my machine...everything was running smooth,until i added a grafix card...7300le(today).
before adding the card i was runnin dapper(had not installed any nvidia drivers for onboard 6150 chipset) and everything was proper.

when i started dapper(for da 1st time wid the card) i got a message at the boot screen sayin there was some problem wid X..and X wud b shuttin down.
wat i have now is the text mode only....i can log in my account...but wid da txt mode only i dont know how to get the gnome gui back.
pls help.

i have Asus A8N VM CSM,512 mb ram,geforce 7300le,athlon 3000+

Type

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

and follow everything. For your graphics driver choose nv if that doesn't work then choose nvidia.
Then you can install nvidia driver as shown here http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu_E...r_.28NVIDIA.29

dat was quick...tryin it out rt now.

got gnome back again....but had to use the vesa option.
there was an nv option but it failed to work.
will install the nvidia drivers now..hope they wont give any trouble.

@tech_your_future.....u had given me a link to nvidia drivers on edgy.
i hav dapper...didnt know if same procedure had to b followed for dapper and edgy or not.
so followed this
