Unhappy Requesting help for installing device drivers in Linux

Hello guys,

I'm a newbie to linux and i'm presently using the distro FC6.My Desktop is working correctly only in one resolution. So I'm trying 2 update the device driver for my graphics controller so that i can use the other resolutions as well.I have got the driver from the manufacture's site and it is of the extension tar.gz.I tried 2 find the guides about the installation of the driver but couldn't.So i request if anybody can help me in updating the driver of the graphics controller.

The graphics controller name is Intel 82915/8910 etc.Driver which i have downlaoded is i915Graphics.tar.gz.

intel board gfx extended modes can be achieved by using 915resolution.which changes your video bios to accmdate other resolutions too.
