i hav downloaded all 15 cds iso of 3.1r4 debian i hav booted from 1st cd and installed debian basic.but i do not know how to install other cds.i have read there documentation but it is not helping much.can anybody tell me how can i install other cds or something about apt-setup??

Give the contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list file. There should be an entry for cdrom there.

You can use apt-cdrom cmd to add the remaining extra cd's of Debian OR edit your /etc/apt/sources.list to enable debian stable repos.
Using apt-cdrom is easy

or for graphically enabling extra cd-roms use synaptic's>settings>Installation media>add cdrom option.

@saurabhgoogle:debian stable is goood,used mostly for server usage afaik.you can try debian testing/unstable for latest packages though it lacks security updates
