hey all.. I jus removed mandriva 06 nd opensuse 10.1 and m installing edgy eft nw.. I jus wanted to ask how much time does it normally take?? Its already 30 min and its still goin.. Still @ 64 % .. I m really bored..

hey its installed now...
some Queries..
1. i dont want the mounted volumes to appear on desktop... how can i remove them??? i dont want to unmount them.. jus they shdnt appear on the desktop...
and how do i change the labels of the volumes???
2. how do i install new applications?????
3. how do i change the bootloader??? the default one is yucky
4. Gimme a good CODEC pack wich shd hav all the required codecs to use all formats...

1) press the delete key & press f2 to remane
2) apt-get install <app-mane>
3) seach in the tips & tricks thread

linux has some issues wit some configs....coz my ubuntu hangs on at loadin hotplug....n its alwez thr....no need 2 wait till 30 mins u wont get thr....ask for help...even i need it

Even though my pc is p4 1.8,its very slow.but even on that it only takes abt 20 minutes

open gconf-editor
browse to /apps/nautilus/desktop
uncheck volumes visible

@desert i didnt quite understand ur step.. There is no apps folder in root.. And how do i open gconf ??

type "gconf-editor" in terminal and browse to apps>nautilus>desktop
