It's not good to install Linux apps on windows partitions. Install them on linux partitions only

normally, it is not advisable to install things into your own folders. In gnu/linux, installation is usually spread across various folders like all executables will go to /usr/bin, all libraries will go to /usr/lib all headers will go to /usr/include etc. So it's best for you to yum things up.

just

yum install opera

will do the trick for you. In anycase why do you need it on a seperate folder ?

well, you don't need to bother about the speed. Your computer won't slow down until you have good ram enough swap space. Changing the default paths will screw things up on a later stage. So, dont do that. And why do you want to take such a pain unnecessarily ? I don't understand you point of saving things in windows partition. Let gnu/linux run peacefully in it's own area.

Read this http://www.pathname.com/fhs/. This will explain the imortance of keeping files in the path allocated to it. Instead of degrading performance, it will improve performance.
