Thumbs up installing fc6 and mandriva on sata disk


My system configuration is,
AMD 3000+ series processor(running at 1.8GHz)
Asus A8V-MX Motherboard
DDR 512 MB
NVidia 5200 fx series Graphics card
Sata 80 GB Hard disk
LG Dvd Writer

i have tried installing fedora core and mandrake 10.1 on my sata hard disk but both the OS are not detecting my sata disk please help me out, i have asked this to many people but none of them gave a proper reply hope theirs someone who can help me.

Try installing Mandriva 2006/2007 Linux. It supports SATA. All the latest Linux
distros like Ubuntu 6.06 or 6.10, Suse 10.1, Fedora 5/6 do support SATA.

AFAIK Mandrake 10.1 came somewhere around 2004. No way is it going to support newer features like SATA and all.

get a distro with latest 2.6 linux kernel like debian etch or Ubuntu Edgy.
