how to install softwares, codecs
hey I am a newbie.... to ubuntu. Recently I install ubuntu but not able to play mp3s, I hav tried to install automatix and other sotwares like xmms but it shows error in installing , plz guide me frm the process of downloading to installing the same.....

Firstly, it's ubuntu not urbuntu.
Have you tried this guide www.ubuntuguide.com?
And what error do you get, if you give more details then it would be easier for us to understand what's going wrong.

never use easy ubuntu .It is untested software, poorly written & is known to severly break many many ubuntu installs.

But for me it has never given any problems.Read the help files,they will list the packages you need to download man.

simple enough will be to install the required xine codecs (ie. use xine)

Open synaptic package manager. search vlc media player and install it. You will be able to play all major formats with it.

@Ankit Agrawal, You must get the Restricted Formats in Ubuntu using Synaptic Package Manager.
