Default Mandrake 10.1 install: No CDROM!!

Here is my problem:

I previously installed Mandrake 10.1 from Digit DVD (using 3 CD's) to my 40GB ATA Hard disk. It worked fine. Then, I upgraded to 160GB Seagate SATA and I tried to install Linux. It booted from the CD, but an error pops up telling that no CD-ROM is present even though I booted from it!! I don't have a floppy drive, please help me.

In BIOS perhaps u can set someting correctly (i dont remember) as i do face same problem ended up changing BIOS options.
Also to be considered is ur ide drive connection whether is it primary or secondary.
i'll do a reboot and tell u my bios change i made
And last a vary rare chance of not detecting...
some times during boot for scsi, "ide=scsi" option does help..

I have SATA Drive. How can it have primary and secondary master or slave? In IDE only there is option for master or slave because you can connect two drives in at once. But in SATA only one drive per cable can be connected. I have the same problem with Suse 9.2 also. It worked on my IDE hard disk. I set my BIOS to factory settings but it did not work. Maybe Linux does not support SATA.

Dude past days gone when it was a headache regarding hardware detection ,Now a days nearly all latest distros support SATA.
Myself using Sata Hdd and have installed distro like Ubuntu ,RHEL ,FC5 but never faced any prob. of any detection,

btw your cdrom is not detecting ,Cdrom connects to IDE so it seems no prob. with sata.
Check out bios settings and reconnect ide cable.

check ur bios again yaar.it's very tricky for me to find the option with drives in my gigabyte bios.100% sure mandriva/ubuntu or debian can support most sata interfaces with Linux-2.6 kernel.

Even though the instructions are for Cooker...they should work for official releases as well.
