Can you elobrate more please. What kind of modem is it? What connection you have?
BTW, try to get Ubuntu 6.06 DVD. It is the latest version and it has been bundled by a rival mag this month.

Umm it maybe difficult. Just check the link given by prakash. If your modem is listed as supported then well and good or else you are out of luck.
