Default Squid open Proxy

Lately i am getting mail from my ISP that i'm running an open proxy and

that i should close it. Since i', not using any direct ip address and the

server is not directly accesible from outside (internet) i felt that it

cannot be an open proxy. Can someone tell me if my asumtion is right and

how do i explain to my isp regarding the complaint that they have sent me.

Thanks.

U r running a proxy server in ur office or home (or whatever) to split the connection right. Firstly tell me which connection do u use ?? Coz most of the connections can be split without using a proxy server. Some of the internet connections are intended for a single pc usage and hence in ur case the ISP does come to know abt the proxy server. U could rather mail them and ask them the reason why r they asking you to shut ur proxy server coz no one can access it from outside, I feel that would be better.

I'm running the proxy in my Office and my ISP allows me to split the connection. We have been using the same for the past one year. Will the best thing be Save the log file and show them that no Global ip address is accessing our proxy server

You could do that and also ask them that what they meant by open proxy server coz u dont allow any outsider to access ur internet right. So do get in touch with them coz it is they who will direct u to the actual problem.
