This is by default or with XGL/AIGLX? It should take up more RAM. Can it be turned off?

Re: GNOME 2.16 released!!
@Tech_your_future, some effects can be achieved without XGL/AIGLX like fading,
vanish. Others like explode, wobble need XGL (enabled). Yeah it can be turned off
if you want to minimize the usage of CPU & memory.
@Djmykey, I think GNOME 2.16 is stable enough. Anyway, even if it has some bugs,
it would be fixed when the Linux distros ship their products using GNOME 2.16.

Re: GNOME 2.16 released!!
@Jguru:- Can we install it on ubuntu 6.06 or we have to wait for Edgy Eft. Anyways it'll be a big package so I am not really into dl it, but still wanted to know.

Of course it is possible to install it but really it will be a big headache to do it. I'd rather wait for it to come into the repositories, using testing repositories, you are likely to get it soon, I don't think you will have to wait till Edgy Eft.

Re: GNOME 2.16 released!!
@Desmataks & @djmykey , you can install the new GNOME 2.16 .But that would be
a big headache really. You guys can wait for another 2 or 3 months , by then almost
all distros will be shipping with GNOME 2.16. In case you want to install GNOME 2.16,
Here is the procedure:
1) First download the Sources
Get Platform sources click here
Get Desktop SourcesClick here
Get Bindings Sources Click here
Get Admin Sources Click here
Now you have to build the Source using Scripts.
Building from Source:
Use the build scripts like GARNOME or jhbuild
Get GARNOME build utility from here
Get jhbuild build script from here
