Question how to enter in single user mode...


i've recently installed FC4...i wanted to know how to enter in single user mode.
i've not created any user i usually login as root...but i just want to try out some thing new..when i bootup my machine,directly GUI comes.(which is usual)
i want to login as a single user mode in shell prompt.

any IDEA??

always use ur local account login as root is really bad and never go to internet as root user.reg single user mode,u can follow:

add 1 to the end of ur kernel line before booting.

Login as root somewhere and give this:

# init 1

Init 1 is the runlevel which has least functionality, but is damn good if you want to fix lowlevel problems with your system.

hi guys...
thx 4 ur reply..but this is not the one i was looking for...
i had attentend a meeting of PLUG(Pune Linux User Group)which helds in pune,in which they had some shortcut keys at the time of booting linux..i had it on a piece o paper,but i lost!!!in that case no need to modify kernel code..if anyone is aware of that thing,plz update..i repeat i've not created any other user A/C..in case i forget my Root password,i should be allowed to enter in shell by "Single User"mode..
kidly update the same
