U need to set root passwd first in a terminal
Code:
sudo passwd root now run "gdmsetup" and in the tab security select/tick "Allow local system administrator login".now next time u can login as root.though its a security risk.i believe ur using standalone system. see dapper wiki for more infi: http://easylinux.info/wiki/Ubuntu_dapper

@Executioner, Logging in as Root is a very bad practise!!
You can execute System Adminstration commands using sudo, gksudo, gksu. If you login as Root , you compromise security!! That means any process can execute as Root. That can do great damage to Ubuntu O.S. |
