Default Novell and RealNetworks Team Up for Universal Multimedia Support

this i found on dailytech, & have to say, good move

When i tried linux, i liked real player only, seems like a good move in a new market, they have lost in Windows & Mac market anyway

The only positive from this is we can play WMF contents from Embedded Sites, ogg has a way better audio quality than any of those, mp3 or wma. And i have converted almost all of my audio to ogg in my GNU/linux box and AAC in my mac.

This will be only for SLED and not for OpenSUSe. So, not a big deal as SLED will have multimedia capabilities out of the box as we pay for proprietory softwares too in it.
I would anyday trade this for VLC + Amarok + Mplayer(cli) whichever you like, it's just unbeatable. Any of the three can be choosen, Mplayer and VLC can play lot more formats than realplayer.

This is for Suse Linux (commerical version) & SLED, & not for OpenSuse!!
Both are proprietary, so you have to pay for them. Also RealPlayer is not going great guns!!
VLC & MPlayer support most of the Video formats. So not a big loss for us.
XMMS can support MP3, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, etc., That's enough for me.
