Default problem in installing linux

i m not able to install any distro as i have an amd 64 3000+ processor.can 32 bit linux b installed on a 64 bit computer??? its possible in windows.....isnt it? please help me installing linux on my comp..........

@Saud_khan, Ofcourse 32-bit version Linux can be installed in your 64-bit AMD
machine. The reverse is not true!! Try Ubuntu or Knoppix, Mandriva Linux.
You can also try any Linux Live CD. Since your PC uses a 64-bit Processor, 32-bit
Linux will work, but it won't give optimized performance. There are also 64-bit version
of Linux distros available.
