Hard disk LED keeps on glowing

Hi all,

I am using Fedora core 3 the problem is sometime my system getting hang and my harddisk LED keeps on glowing .

I am using XFCE(4.0.2) .Occasionally GNOME .

My Processer is AMD Athlon 783 MHZ.

What is the problem ? please tell me how to resolve it .

One more question .
Is there any program for Linux to check the harddisk ?

ur processor is a slow one...so it comes on FULL load when there r too many processes...and LED continuosly glows then...u have to wait for the processes to end...if they r too high...then ur computer will hang.
Get a fast processor.

It maybe due to a virus. The virus reads/writes to the harddisk and corrupts the O.S.
You said that your O.S hangs. I definitely suspect a virus in your System.

maybe a virus....but in linux...very rare...but i still recommend that u check over by an anti-virus.

try booting in command line...check whether it hangs...if it works better in cmdline,then its sure that procee cant handle that much..may be u can add a little more memory...virus in linux chancei illai!
