Default Mic & webcam support in FC5

Hi. I am using FC5. I wan to

1. Enable Mic in Linux. I am usning a Creative SB live 24 bit sound card. It works fine. But no mic. I don't know how to enable mic.

2. I have a Tech com webcam. I don't know what to do to get it up & running. I don't think there are any drivers for Linux.

Please help.

I dont use webcam but for mic goto sound control, i.e the sound icon in gnome panel, and enable these

***************
In *switch* section
1. Head Phone Jack sense
2. Mic Boost(+20db)

In *options* section
Mic select = Mic1

In *capture* section
Enable both sound and mic icons (i.e no crosses on them)
***************

Then use audacity, to test ur sound. U can also use "Krec". But I used it from Gnome, so be may thats y it didn't work. So try "Krec" from KDE.

I have sucessfully installed my Web Cam and able to run it on Ekiga in FC6..using GSPCA
But other programs like gThumb viewers and others are not able to detect it..

Video plugin : V4L2
Input Device : ZC0301[P] PC Camera

And I m facing one more problem in recording sound..
when I use CLI based 'rec' the results are good but when i try to record via audacity or Krec, It either fails to record or the quality is very poor.

U have to improve the sound quality by setting the filters right. Thats how it is in "revalver" another music software. U may explore the settings in audacity and set them up accordingly!

In case you are using Kopete, you need to install Jasper for the webcam to work.
