Default help on suse 9.1


Hi everyone,
I am subhayu . This is my first message on this board.
I have recently installed SUSE 9.1 , which i got from Digit DVD.
It started with great features. thats ok.
But what i want to know is how to play VCD(Dat) files here ?
also i want to know how to install different s/w with extension such as rpm,cvs.bin etc .

I hope i will recieve right guidence from u all...

Suse 9.1 I assume personal edition is quite old now. Also it lacks a lot of rpms like gcc,g++,java. It has only to do with entertainment and browsing the net. So u have to install all the rpms first.
Instead u shud install Suse 10 (5 cds) coz they say 10.1 is a little unstable. U wont need anything else to install then and u'll know urself what to do next!
And to play dat files try mplayer or xine...i dunno if Suse 9.1 has it.
