Well it depends whether it fits to your needs or not...
never used OpenDarwin... though FreeBSD is really nice...

opendarwin has a long way to go before it becomes remotely usable. I tried to install it once but it had problems with my chipset or something.

Freebsd is much more mature and recognises a lot more hardware.

FreeBSD is one of the better known Unix distributions ... however OpenDarwin seems to be in its infancy still... its been something like 1 year since it was launched.... they have taken code directly from Apple's original Darwin source repository... on good thing is that i can taste the power of Darwin on an intel processor also...
