Motorola SM56 on Redhat 9???

hey guys
i recently installed redhat 9 on my pc. all the hardwares have been detected and they work fine except my motorola sm56 pci speakerphone modem! can ne1 explain its installation in details???

Firstly, please post in linux queries in open source section. It will be difficiult to manage things without mods around. It must be a winmodem so it will get a bit difficult to install. Have a look at this thread http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/lin...ems-linux.html. Just select your modem from the linmodems site and follow the procudure there. Also reading this http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Winmodems-...nux-HOWTO.html might help a bit.

This modem will not work in Linux. All attempts will fail, so conserve your energy and forget about getting it to work...EVER! I had the same modem and now it is lying in my heap of unused/old hardware.

It is not possible at all. You need to buy an external modem to use under Linux.

Well, you can make it work. Follow the guide at http://www.sm56.tk/ , only if you are familiar with kernel compilation.
