Default Learning Linux on one's own !

From where can one learn linux? Are books available in the libraries a good bet? I want to start with Mandriva 2006 but i guess the Konsole commands will be same in all the distro's.

You can get very good books in libraries. Look for linux system administration guides. They will help a lot. Also look at TLDP Guides.

TLDP guide is very usefull.Download pdf files or read it online.
Also check out this link: http://linuxcommand.org

Mandriva is more userfriendly. If you want to learn Linux then go for Fedora Core .Finally it is your choice to select OS.

I think the best way to learn Linux is TO USE IT to do your day to day jobs. Wheneever you face any problem, quickly google it on the internet. That is the best way to learn Linux in my opinion.
