Default Choosing bet Knoppix and Mandrake


Hello Members ,

I want to learn linux and have in hand Knoppix and Mandrake ( received through Digit's cds ). I have no previous knowledge on linux and hence do not know which one of them wd be better ..

Go for knoppix first since you don't have to install anything on the hard disk. Mandriva(formerly mandrake) is also easy to use but once you get a hang of linux you can later go for hard disk install.

Thanks tech_your_future for the reply .

I did try to run it from the cd as per the direction .. burned the ISO file ( which is a zipped file ) , went to the bios to set the booting option but nothing happened . I have tried with another cd containing the unzipped files without any result .

I guess you burned the cd in wrong method. You must have just burned using data disc method.
If you're using nero select open image, in file types drop down box select .iso files and navigate to the folder where you have the iso file and then click on open. Then burn it.
