Default why does SATA ignore REDHAT????

hi,
i have k800vm asrock Motherboard with amdsempron2500+, segate 80gb SATA drive 256mb DDr ram when ever i tried to install any version of redhat linux it doesn't install and askes me to specify the SATA controler which not listed in the list. Mandrake 10 works fine but redaht??? plz any one guide me how to get rid of this problem

I guess SATA is supported since Fedora Core 4. It wasn't supported earlier.

SATA is supported fully in 2.6.x Kernels.RedHat 9 or RHEL 3 are Old distros carrying kernel 2.4.x .so get a newer distro with 2.6 Kernel like Ubuntu Breezy or Debian Sarge 2.6 kernel,though u can install RH9 or any 2.4 but the process is a little difficult.even there are patches of libata for 2.4 stable kernels.
