    Default xine not installing properly...

I installed xine-lib1.0.3 but the xine-ui0.99 is not installing.
While i try to configure xine-ui i got an error that xine-lib is not installed. Actually i installed xine-lib and then tried to configure xine-ui but in vain i got the above error.

I included the path where the xine is installed in
    Code:
    /etc/ld.so.conf
    but still xine-ui didnt configure...

    I am using RHEL 4

Download all the 3 rpms and put them in the same folder and give the command
    rpm ivh* * --nodeps

first remove the xorg rpm (if needed give --nodeps),xine-libs etc.try reinstall, first try installing xine-ui ,which will show needed dependencies.install the dependencies one by one.if again conflict shows up try 'rpm -ivh foo.rpm --force' .also AFAIK for xine to play wmv files,u must install win32codecs
    http://atrpms.net/dist/common/w32codec/

In xine gui setup option u can get lot of options....
    consider mplayer also.gr8 player,got browser plugins also(mozplugger..).
    http://atrpms.net/dist/fc3/mplayer/
also if u have installed bash-completion rpm it will help u by double clicking the tab button showing the instaled rpms, files etc..(FYI)

I have tried to play a file directly from the CD in MPLAYER and even xine(xine is working fine now, thanks for everything), but i got an error in MPLAYER as "this file format is not supported" and in case of xine "its not a valid MRL".

How to give a VAILD mrl now.

Perhaps win32codecs or mplayer-codecs-win32 needs to be installed for mplayer to play some formats...

Thanks, but i didnt find the "MRL" tab in the setup window.
The solution requires typing ".dat" extension in the "MRL" tab.

Now i got problem with the mplayer.
I upgraded existing mplayer-0.99 to mplayer-1.0 and then it didnt work as i expected. So i uninstalled. Now i am trying to install mplayer-1.0, but i am getting a message that mplayer-1.0 is already installed.

What can be done to this?

The plugin you mentioned is here, but still i get the error about "no demuxer" for so and so file.

mplayer - Where does the files, when we install it through rpm, will be installed?

usually on the /usr folder. The libraries will be placed under /usr/lib and the executables on /usr/bin. For a complete look open the rpm file with file-roller (popularly known as Archive Manager).
