Default LINUX: surfing net


i'm having a problem.... can you give me sugg.

i'm having two conn right now.... Airtel GPRS and BSNL BB. now i want to do it in Linux. who do i do this? Previously i had a D-LINK ext modem and iwas able to use it in linux, but now.. it seems abit fussing for me. cuz i'm not a linux end user.
1. suppose i want to do GPRS one in linux, but when i plugged my IrDA, linux does not go for new hardware at the start time. how do i enable it?

2. i have the dialer for BSNL bb, where do i get the Linux vesion and how do i install it?

I have doubt how do we configure normal external modems.Does it get identified.I don`t have an external modem..thinking on buying one.

You wont need any drivers for external modems. It works fine on gnu/linux.

For BSNL BB its better to check the BB website of BSNL to get the linux installer cos in Sify BB there is another installer for linux. Then configure your network for ethernet in
Quote:
Start menu-->System settings-->Network
and add a new connection with the settings of your

IP, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway
. And click on

Activate
. This will activate ur settings. Dont forget to check the check box for

Activate during booting
.

This may solve your problem. Cos i am using Sify BB in linux without any problem.
