Default Xmedia player in linux


i am new to linux. my machine has dual partition with Redhat Linux 9 and WinXP.
When I try to play mp3 files in linux with Xmedia player i get an error message that 'no audio device could be found'. how can i solve this.

I suggest you post this in the Open Source section. All the Linux geeks hang out there. Will request mods to move this thread. BTW, welcome to Digit forums.

@pradeepbp:bhai,If ur Audio in general working,then in xmms right click and goto options>preference>Output Plugin>change to ALSA or OSS or ESD depending on where u get sound or a better one is disable sound for events.
@mods pls move to Open SOurce and why dont moderators change the title to OpenSource/Linux so that noobs will get it easy.

Change the output plugin.It should work..
