Default HELP..... windows offline:linux unloaded

hi people8)
i need some help with my computer
could someone be kind enough to tell me whats wrong????(and how to fix it)
i had 3 partitions
C: (FAT32 with Windows 98SE)
D: (FAT32)
E: (NTFS with Windows XP)

then i wanted to install DSL( www.damnsmalllinux.org )
so i used the windows XP boot CD to delete the E: partition
all that went fine.................
and then i rebooted my comp to still see two boot options i.e Windows XP and 98
98 works fine
but obviously XP does not
still i wish to take off that option
and also could i get help on how to install DSL
i downloaded the dsl-1.5-syslinux.iso file and burnt it onto a CD
please help...
please reply or
email me at avadakedavra.13@gmail.com
thanks a lot people

Browse to your C drive, there look for a file named "Boot.ini". This is a hidden file & you need to show hidden files to see it.

Open it in notepad, remove the line which reads windows XP & set the timeout to "0 seconds" & you are done.

I dont use DSL, so i dont kow much about it. Wait for the others to reply.

Removing the entry for XP in boot.ini would be a better option?

As for installing linux, boot of your optical drive[set the optical drive to boot first from the BIOS].
The CD should start, follow the instructions & install it by making partitions under the deleted free space.

In case you dont know about the various mount points & partitions to configure, search the forums.I remember a topic by GNUrag for the same.
