setting up net

I am a total newbie to linux... can anyone tell me how to setup internet in suse linux.... I tried but failed.... I have a D-Link external modem and suse that came with digit...
PLZ HELP.....

go to the kppp

theere get the device as ttsy0
query the modem
create the connection with 172233 as phone no.
use the PAP mode
click on conect
u r done
