Kubuntu Internet LAN configuration Help

Well i had this problem with my Suse 9.1 well i think i have this problem with all linux that run on KDE coz when i was using ubuntu the net worked properly but with suse 9.1 and Kubuntu 5.04 same problem

well let me get down to the problem
how do i enter all these settings, these are my net settings:-
ip address is 10.0.0.203
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
GateWay 10.0.0.1
Preferred DNS 10.0.0.1

well i was able to enter the first three seetings but when it comes to Preferred DNS i cant fin the option and when i tried it some place where it had to do some thing with the DNS and i entered the DNS ip it says enter a "Alias" first what should i do Plz help me Slove my problem then i can jump totally from Windows to Linux

Just open the file /etc/resolv.conf, and add this line there -

nameserver 10.0.0.1

If it still doesn't work, type "ifconfig" in a console prompt and post the output here.
