restore Grub

few weeks back i used to dual boot between XP and MINT 10 until an evil virus infiltrated XP and destroyed my GRUB bootloader. i then had to "FIXMBR" and "FIXBOOT" using the XP CD to restore my XP. but i have to do this everytime i open my comp after shutting it down.

Now i want to get free from this hassle and want to restore my GRUB. i googled for tutorials and all i got was failure.
help...

I assume that mint has grub version 2. So you can use the following link(though this is for ubuntu for mint it will be the same)

It means that your mint uses grub 2

To completely resotre your grub (both older version and grub2), there's an open source utility called Auto Super Grub Disk for grub and Rescatux for grub2.

Rescatux -

Fixes GRUB
Fixes GRUB2
It cannot boot on other systems (only Rescatux itself)
Regenerates grub menues (Only in Debian/Ubuntu systems)
Check filesystems and fix them
Size - 371MB

Does not fix GRUB
