The FIRST step towards finding a Linux driver is identifying the modem's CHIPSET. The scanModem tool will help you. Please download and run the scanModem tool.
Go to website again. Download scanmodem tool. Run it and follow the URLs it gives you. You will be able to download the drivers.

Try Changing the port (ttsy0,1...) and see in which the modem query responds.

usually com1 (ttsy1).

1. First query ur modem to see if the system detects it!
2. save the configuration
3. then dial
4. If no ringtone detected, the n give the initialization command ATX1
5. save the configuration
6. now dial
Problem solved!

What I learned from tryign to get an internal modem installed on Mandrake . Itsa pain in the butt, I think the free version does not support the ful speed you can get. Otherwise you have to purchase the other one. I just went and got a new com modem and everything worked fine.
