Default Post your Linux browser experiences here!!

Hey guys.. this section of the forum is dead (due to Praka's ban).. so lets make it happening again..

As you know that there are many browsers on Linux front.. but suddenly a new wave of attack from the Webkit department is on Gecko since last couple of months... Browsers like Midori, Chromium, Arora even Reknoq are generating a lot of action.. But the most important (and shocking) news was of Epiphany's switching royalties in favour of Webkit :O

I downloaded and installed Epiphany on Ubuntu 9.10.. I'd never used this app before.. but believe me.. its lightening fast.. infact, i've been using it since last 1 week or something.. i've even ditched my beloved Opera for this.. try it guys.. and see the result.. Don't forget to post your experience..

A word of caution though.. it is NOT in Fedora 11's repositories.. so you may wanna try Midori instead..

press alt + F2 in ubuntu and then type sudo pppoeconf
Check the run in terminal option. then follow all the onscreen instructions. Its just a simple next next yes yes thing.

Worked for me at least.

Google's Chrome rocks on Ubuntu. Its light and fast. Shiretoko (FF 3.5) crawls like snail. I have removed most of the plugins but it is still as slow as Mumbai traffic. Opera is good too!

Haven't tried Midori and others as such I have FF 3.0, FF 3.5, Chromium, Chrome, Opera & a Windows version of Chrome.

Chromium(yes NOT Chrome) and Opera FTW! For those who find Firefox, slow I suggest Swiftweasel, it's quite fast.

Firefox crawls when I open those FB games. Haven't tried Opera on FB games. Will look into it?

How is the RAM consumption of Midori & Chromium?

I have tried Midori and Epiphany on Arch Linux and was quite impressed with their spped and clean interface. But they are still light-weight and lack features. The extensions are poor and most of the regular sites didn't worked with them nor middle-click scroll.

The developers should add essential features.
After using Opera and pampered by its features and innovations, using these browsers seems like a cage.

For a low RAM system, Webkit based browsers like Midori and Epiphany will work like a charm.. Opera is awesome.. only the Javascript engine is a little bit slow as compared to other browsers...

I tried midori and various other lighweight browers but IMO they are too bland to use. No exciting features like addons in firefox.

For slow connection I prefer Opera but for fast connection Firefox loaded with addons is my choice. Oh this version of firefox is Shiretoko.
