I've installed ubuntu 8.04
I'm new to linux
I've downloaded firefox-3.5.2.tar.bz2 and don't know how to install it pls help

^Downloaded from firefox's website? Then you just need to uncompress the file and run the firefox script.

I would recommend Ubuntu 9.04

Use Ubuntu 9.04.

And download it in .deb format. Its easier.

t'll take time for you to get used to ubuntu but u'll like it later on. And search the web on how to install, u'll get proper steps.

ya i will download ubuntu 9.04. I've used windows for 5 yrs and very keen to learn linux now.
I don't want to install ubuntu on seperate partition, i want to install it inside windows so i'Ve to download iso file.

So you will be installing under WUBI?
I recommend you learn a bit about partitioning & install it in a seperate partition soon.

The default browser is firefox 3.0.8, how can i upgrade this browser to firefox 3.5.2

Open a terminal & enter;

sudo apt-get install firefox

with synaptic pakage manager in ubuntu i only able to upgrade firefox to 3.0.13
how can i install firefox 3.5.2?
