Unhappy Puppy linux-- not booting

I installed puppy linux 4.2.1 on an old laptop with AMD K6 processor, 64 MB RAM, 4GB hd(no partition).(Full installation as mentioned here)

then located 'menu.lst' file as said in manual but it did not had any entries specified in the manual, so left it as it is.

It was working fine when i booted with live cd.

Now, when i power on the laptop, and boot from hd, i am able to see the GRUB bootloader screen and then three options --

1. boot linux (/dev/sda1)
2 and 3. to create boot up floppy and something else.

On choosing 'Boot Linux (/dev/sda1), it shows following text --

Quote:
root (hd0,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83

krnel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro vga=normal
[Linux -bzImage, setup=0x2a00, size=0x18a82c]
and the cursor keps on blinking, then nothing works and ultimately i have to switch off laptop.

I tried to reinstall GRUB from within PuppyLinux (boot from Live CD). But it doesn't work, and the problem persists.

I am a noob with linux , so pls post detailed reply.
