Default linux on pen drive

yes i know it IS a very widly dicussed topic, but hear me on.....

i found a tool called unetboot, it works for me fine.

with uppy linux, ubuntu, open solaris, mandriva.(i use only these many)

until i downloaded sabayon-4 . very impressed by watching its shell commands 5000+ ....

sadly unetboot failed to transfer a sucessful image.
neither did sabayon boot from the pendrive nor did it install..

please suggest a way for doing so or to copy all packages so that i can install them on pother linux

It's very easy in Ubuntu.

1. Insert an empty pen drive

2. Click on System-Administration -> Create a USB startup disk

And follow on !

let me give you the idea of my situation :

1. i have two comps first with sabayon 4 and other with ubuntu. sabayon has wine while ubuntu does not.

2. i want to copy all files of wine from sabayon to ubuuntu so that the program runs on other system.

3. this is the situation for other programs for example RegX, Kaboodu, Java etc etc etc....

4. any sugessions?????????

^ to the best of my knowledge, what you're asking isn't possible. It's like saying I'll copy the Program files folder from one Windows PC to another Windows PC and make those programs run there !

Only those which do not make changes to the registry. The installer simply extracts the files to C:\Program Files and makes a shortcut on the desktop.

Yes, but they can store settings in the registry, the settings will be lost ofcourse , on copying the folder. But one can import and export the registry settings as well, by copying HKLM/Software
