IS THERE A PRINTER DRIVER FOR canon ip1000 for linux

i couldnt find it on the net.

and it seems canon is notorious for not providing printer drivers for its printers under linux platform.

alternate canon printer drivers compatible with canon ip1000 is also welcome

i had sent a mail to one Mr Hansen askin for detailed steps to ude canon ip1000 with linux his reply is as follows

OK, i try. First, what distro do you use? If you use RedHat 9 or Fedora
1, 2 or 3, you just install those rpms with rpm and set your printer
with browser (http://localhost:931), you can just set your ptinter
through print manager (I try that, but has no success).

If your distro debian based (like Ubuntu, Kanotix and so on), you must
conver those rpms with alien and install it with dpkg. Other step,
follow instruction from kanotix guy that I mention at list.
