Just copy them in to '.fonts' folder of your home directory.
some thing like

/home/riyaz/.fonts

Thats it! Now you can start using them.

After copying the font to ~/.fonts , run "fc-cache" once. Also make sure you have the "freetype" module loaded (should be by default).

I never ever had any problems with it since fedora9. I am surprised that didnt worked for you.

And I never did I have to run 'fc-cache' one in these two years.

On more thing not evey TTF will run under linux, most of them will but not every one.

If an webbrowse uses the Linux fonts then it will autometically work. Same way if a webpage will request the fonts you have installed it will work too. Or you can customize firefox to use certain fonts.

In case you want to install the standard webfonts (M$ fonts) you can install "mscore ttf" fonts the same way.

Hint: there is mscore RPM also available at sourceforge.
