Post LiveCD/DVD Suggestion containing Educational Tools/ Games

Hello

I am looking for a Linux Distribution which I can use in a Live CD/DVD mode and dedicated to Educational Resources and Games (like Puzzles) for children. I would like to use it as a teaching aid for a child, who is about 5 years old. I have heard about Edubuntu, but the trouble is I can not use it in Live CD/DVD mode and installing Linux will not serve my purpose.

Please suggest. (and please do not tell me about the Big G)

Thank you.

ubuntu forum thread ->http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=119942
distro watch search -> http://distrowatch.com/search.php?ca...n#distrosearch (lists most educational distros)
try playing with the filters(like education, live cd, dvd etc) -> http://distrowatch.com/search.php

im afraid to tell you that edubuntu doesnt exist as a live cd/dvd now.
but you may want to tryout unetbootin. with unetbootin you can install edubuntu on a usb drive and thus retain the mobility of a cd/dvd.

Thanks...

I was also thinking about Ubuntu Live DVD, but could not ascertain whether it contains all the necessary software

This question was asked in the Ubuntu mailing lists. Ill simplify it for you. Theres a tool called remastersys which can be used to create Live CDs. You can use it to create an edubuntu live cd/dvd. Check the following link and read through the thread.

http://www.mail-archive.com/ubuntu-i.../msg04913.html

Hope this helps.

I think you should start your own thread, in that way you would get more specific hits and responses. BTW, check out linuxquestions.org, its a dedicated Linux users' community

I think Edubuntu would be the ideal CD for you. Its designed for kids from 5 to 11 years of age.
