Question using pen drives in Ubuntu 8.10

If a pen drive is affected with virus of windows it will not affect ubuntu's file systems but will it make a copy of it into ubuntu and then when we use windows it will affect it?

How to deal with pen drives with viruses?

i tried to delete virus (new folder) but it can't be deleted says permission denied.
Also one folder in pen drive shows locked icon on left top (in ubuntu). what this means?

Lastly how to format pen drive in ubuntu?

No. None of Virus can create file in Linux.
Regarding deleting files of Pen Drive, just press Alt+F2 and type this
Code:
gksu nautilus
It will open Nautilus with root privileges. Navigate to Pen Drive and delete all unknown files.

Linux is best to kill Windows Virus.

But please be cautioned while deleting files with root privileges. Make sure you are inside your pen drive.

Also, bitdefender recently launched anti-virus for unices. You can instal it in your linux machine and scan windows partition and pen drive.

How to Format Pen Drives: Install GParted (GNOME) or QPaerted (KDE) from Synaptic and fortmat/resize/delete partitions and pen drives with it.

If you are a commen-line junkie then Ubuntu Linux format USB pen drive Be careful with the partitions names /dev/sdx
