Default ubuntu uninstallation problem

i had bought a laptop and it has ubuntu installed.
now when i want to intall xp, in the booting process it shows "windows is configuring your system configuration" and after that screen goes completely blank.
i unable to install xp.
plz help me to install xp and step by step proccess to uninstall ubuntu.
