Post Please Answer Please..........

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and i was worried with my DVD drive sound scratchy "keek keek" while running. Please tell me whether the DVD drive is getting damaged

Also, please tell me how to find that my hard drive is affected or not by the bug mentioned in Hard disk life cycle issues of Laptops running Linux. Please.............

Dude i had the same prob jus right click on your sound icon goto open volume control and mute the cd player hopefully that should fix it morever does the sound come only when ur inserting a cd or most of the time...

The noise is not from the speakers dude it is from the drive

Dunno why this is in Open Source, anyway.
Use a head-cleaner CD on your drive and then see if you hear that noise. If it is able to read media properly, then I dont think you have anything to worry about.
If the noise persists, RMA it ASAP.

Im not too sure if Dell 1525 has a slot loader, but my studio 15 has one and its really noisy. Its supposed to be noisy, all slot loaders are.
