Default Why openSUSE is so slow??


I have a C2D processor of 2.1 GHz and 3GB RAM.... still openSUSE is very slow while dragging windows or scrolling a page... I have an ATI Radeon HD 3450 graphics card also.... y is this happening???

I'm guessing its cause of the excessive visuals. Or generally bad code (YaST?).

I too found this problem with OpenSuse and that's why I switched to Fedora.

+1 nucleusCore.... install correct drivers... stop wooing over compiz (if you are using it)

I've tried installing ATI driver earlier... but it was giving some error... the log file contains no detailed error report... I will post the err details later...

ye... I tried it yesterday and it says package generation failed..... no error details...

From ATI website, I found "The display driver requires POSIX shared memory to be enabled on the system" How will I check whether this is enabled in my system??

problem solved by installing all packages specified in the following link..
