Question Connecting 2PCs using Modem?


Hi..

Is it possible to connect my WinXP & Win98 PC using their Modem for file sharing ?? Without connecting it to internet?

Is there anyother simple way ? I dont have lan port in my win98.

use external tranfer device... like pen drive or external HDD or write a cd or a dvd and transfer... modem cannot do that work for u

i dont think DATA TRANSFER IS POSSIBLE THAT WAYS !!! YES INTERNET CAN BE DIALED BUT THAT ALSO IN ONE PC AT A TIME NOT IN BOTH

Yes u can. I m unable to remember the name but I have a s/w which allows u to that. I will search & will tell u soon about it.

u need lan connection
from modem it is not possible
buy two lan cards
it'll cost u just rs. 250/- per card
i.e. Rs. 500 = cost of 1 modem

n also u need one Lan Connecting Wire

^ PERFECT as LAN IS THE MOST RELIABLE WAY and the cheapest too

how about using hyperterminal to dial-out from one pc and so connect the 2 pc's ....but the speed will like dialup connection ...and also its like a sendfile utilty + chat ..thats it.Heavy phone bill by the way...the one dialing out has to pay.

I heard that even using serial port one can interconnect 2 Pcs... Though it wont be practically better.. I want to try it
