Default How to I search for files over LAN?

I live in an on-campus housing at my University, and all computers are connect to the local LAN, through which we get internet access.

Now, many people in the network have shared folders in which they share stuff like games, movies or music. Now is there anyway I can just directly search for shared files over the LAN? At present I have to sit and browse throught each and every single computer's shared drive to look for what I want, and over a LAN this is quite slow too.

So any suggesions?

peace...
aditya

U can use Start > Search > Computers and People > A computer on the network... to search in comps over lan...

alternatively try LANster --> http://www.warpengine.com/
or, http://www.softperfect.com/products/lspro/

a better option is to use the default xp search feature., in the LOOK IN column , select BROWSE, and then u can choose the entire netywork

it is pretty simple, without any hassles of any softwares etc.
