Default Windows 2000 & XP network problem

Hello To all,
I have problem in my network. It is like, in two pcs Windows2000 sp4 is installed & one pc contains windows xp sp2. While when we open the network nebiourhood & click on the another pc in the network it asks for user id & password it happens only when both xp & 2000 want to access the pc in the network. But this problem does not happen when we try to browse in windows 2000 network. Moreover the system with Windows XP doeesnt contains any User ID or Password. Pls post the solution on how to bypass this "User ID" thing.
