SE Xperia X1 is a HTC Product?

Just read on a few sites that SE's much acclaimed Xperia X1 is actually a HTC OEM product with a SE branding. Is that true?

I think HTC jst provided the hardware..remaining work done by SE.

HTC is a Original Equipment Manufacturer for lots of companies including the likes of Sony Ericsson and imate..They broke with imate few years ago as they have to launch their own Dopod and HTC branded phones...Xperia is a 100% HTC product with SE logo on its top...SE is giving only warranty for HTC product.Irony is Xperia will cut share of HTC Diamond which are essentially products of HTC only..Companies are not transparent...Fly sells imate PDAL in Europe by its name..And imate itself doesn't manufacture..This is how the cartel goes..

ROFL...For your kind info, Xperia is being manufactured in SE factories worldwide. Endgadgets post is just a rumour.

HTC may have made SE a prototype to which SE have done the modifications.In today;s world no conmpany would sell a stake of their own.So stop talking rubbish.

may be... But what I knew was most of the windows based mobile are made by htc... And companies like SE and O2 they put there specific softwares... But why are the SE fans not happy... Common guys some one has to manufacture it... Neither Nokia or SE will create chips and circuits on there factory.. They have lots of other things to do.... LOL if you google u will find that htc was there long before htc started producing mobiles with there name... So what was htc doing then?

Now, you wont get a source to prove your point.I can show you a few blogs but bottomline is,HC just provided the technical bits.The fact that the XPERIA is produced in the SE factories is proof enough.The assembly and quality of materials is typical SE.

The panel interface etc. all designed by Sony Ericsson engineer themselves AFAIK.

If it would have been HTC, then wouldn't X1 have been running TouchFlo?

Though HTC has indeed helped SE in designing the phone, but its not that HTC has completely designed the fone as people over here are saying.

HTC is the ODM for SE Xperia. An ODM designs the product and produces it while the company that outsourced it gets to put its brand on the product. This is an internationally accepted business model. Its not that if Xperia does well SE gets credit or if it doesn't then HTC gets discredit.

The fact that Xperia is an SE product means whether the phone is good or sh!t.. blame goes to SE. HTC is only designing and also possibly manufacturing it. All the HP iPaQs, if I'm correct, are manufactured by HTC as well.

Compal Electronics is an ODM for Dell, HP and quite others. So all those fancy Dell/HP laptops you see are actually designed and manufc. by Compal Electronics of China.

BTW, Asus is the OEM for Apple (Macs!), Foxconn is the OEM for iPhone and iPod.

Grab a copy of the latest issue of My Mobile magazine (September issue) and read the interview of HTC Chairman or Vice President...He has categorically accepted Xperia to be a HTC product...If this can't take you out of your ignorance, nothing else ever could...

I never denied that the XPERIA is not an HTC brainchild.Its just that the hardware is being manufactured by SE and SE have owned to it. HTC are the designers, and maybe the material providers, but the manufacturing and the last minute decisions are done by SE, as can be seen from their manufacturing plants. I hope i get myself clear here. Even the WM interface is SE's brainchild and they have a whole plant in North America that is totally devoted to WM.
